About this product

Shell Home is a free Android launcher that turns your home screen into a UNIX style command line. It is made for power users, developers, sysadmins and digital minimalists who want speed and control instead of a cluttered icon grid.

Type a command or an app name right from the home screen, like open chrome, note add Buy milk or theme set dracula. The command engine supports flags, chaining, piping, typo correction, tab autocomplete and command history. If you prefer a graphical view, a Material 3 app drawer is always available with search, favorites, hidden apps and notification badges.

Built with Clean Architecture using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Room, DataStore, Coroutines and Flow. It is easy to extend with your own commands. It has no ads, no telemetry and works fully on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app collect any user data?

No. It has zero telemetry and no advertising IDs, and it sends no data anywhere. The only network features are the optional weather and net check commands.

Which Android versions are supported, and can I add my own commands?

Android 8.0 (API 26) up to Android 17 are supported. Commands follow a simple Command interface registered in a CommandRegistry, so adding a new command only takes one class.
