Cracked Screen Prank App
A hyper-realistic cracked screen prank app for Android with procedural glass cracks, shake trigger, sound effects, and full-screen overlay mode.
This is a complete Android screen recorder and video editor app, built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose (Material 3), MediaProjection, OpenGL ES, and AndroidX Media3. It has a clean Bento-style UI and is fully offline, with no telemetry and no data uploaded anywhere.
You can record the full screen or only a selected area using a draggable region selector powered by real-time OpenGL ES cropping. Recording supports resolutions from 480p to 4K and native, frame rates from 24 to 60 FPS, H.264 or H.265 encoding, and bitrates from 2 to 50 Mbps. Audio options include microphone, internal device audio (Android 10+), mixed, or muted.
Controls stay out of your way with a floating bubble (pause, resume, stop, screenshot), a Quick Settings tile, a configurable countdown, and shake to stop.
The built-in editor, powered by Media3 Transformer, lets you trim, split, change speed (0.25x to 3x), blur sensitive areas, rotate, crop, and mute audio. A local library (Room + MediaStore) handles file info and quick sharing.
The code follows MVVM + Clean Architecture with a clear folder structure (data, service, ui, util), so it is easy to customize and rebrand. About 80% of the development was AI-assisted, with architecture, debugging, UI refinement, and testing done manually. It was built mainly for personal use and tested on the developer’s own device. Behavior can vary across manufacturers and Android versions, so test on your target devices.
No. It is fully offline with no telemetry. Recordings stay on the device. Internet is needed only for the first Gradle sync.
It was tested on the developer’s own device. Manufacturers handle MediaProjection, hardware encoders, and overlay permissions differently, so you may need small adjustments on some devices or Android versions
Yes. The clean MVVM structure makes it easy to change the UI, add features, and rename the package and app ID before publishing.
